The 2010 Leader Rally is coming up soon! If you currently volunteer in Family Ministry, or have considered getting involved, this event is for YOU! Mark your calendars and plan on joining us on August 29th from 12:45p - 3:00p. We will kick off with lunch and some vision casting with Family Ministry Pastor John Huber, followed by some break-out time for each specific age group Ministry Team within Family Ministry (Reef, Rock, Extreme, Crave, Surge, Special Needs, etc…)

We are so excited about this time to gather both with our individual teams, and to come together as a Family Ministry to dream and look forward to 2011 for Kids at Westside. You will not want to miss out on this special celebration! Lunch and childcare available by registration only. Sign up here.

Hopefully you have heard the exciting news by now… (It was announced during Sunday services yesterday.) Starting August 22nd, there will be a 2nd Sunday evening service at the Lenexa Campus! As a night owl, or more specifically, NOT a morning person, our family is stoked about this addition as it gives an opportunity to attend one service and serve at the other, ALL IN THE EVENING! So have a 2nd round of banana pancakes in your P.J.’s Sunday morning on August 22nd and join us at either 5:00p or 6:30p that evening for worship.

Want to get involved? There are many opportunities to serve at both services. Contact us and let us know if you are interested in a particular service or age group or that you would just like to get plugged in!

S.W.A.T. (Serving.Work.Adoration.Teamwork) applications are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 school year! Participating children must be in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade and a regular attender in the Extreme. As schedules and availablitly change for so many families, we are asking that every child wishing to participate fill out a new application regardless of their participation in past years. You may either print the application HERE or pick up an application at the Rock or Extreme check-in desk.

There will be a special S.W.A.T. Team orientation celebration on August 10th from 1:00p-3:00p at the Lenexa Campus in the Student Center. Please RSVP to Erin English.

Now is the perfect time to start thinking and praying about what part you can play in Family Ministry at Westside. There are tons of opportunities to get involved, from behind the scenes prep during the week to classroom teachers on Sunday (morning & evening services), and all sorts of things in between like check-in, gradeschool worship emcee, sound booth, room set-up, and much more. There is something for everyone!

If you’d like to know more about a particular position, ASK! Family Ministry Volunteers all wear a name tag specific to their ministry area. (Reef, Rock, Extreme). Ask them where they serve, what their responsiblities are, and WHY they volunteer.

There is an important Parent Meeting coming up on July 28th for the parents of all incoming 6th graders. Please join us that Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30p for an opportunity to meet the Crave staff and Volunteers as well as catch the vision for Middle School ministry and what Crave has to offer your student! This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and some you just hadn’t thought of yet!

Promotion Sunday is on August 15th this year for all grades. Please check your child’s security tag carefully that morning for their new room assignment.
